Conil de la Frontera

Conil de la Frontera is a small village in the province of Cádiz. It is located at the Atlantic coast between Vejer and Chiclana. Conil has always been a fishing village, since the time of the Phoenicians. Nowadays tuna fishing and tourism is the main source of income.

Conil de la Frontera is a typical Andalusian village, where the Arab influence is still reflected in the narrow streets, the white low houses, the courtyards and squares. Conil is surrounded by many forests.

Conil has good accommodation with hotels, apartments, cottages and inns. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants.

Conil has 16 km of beaches some of them with great waves as the Levante blows frequently. Great for those who love water sports. The sky is mostly bright blue as Conil is part of the Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light). There is a relaxed atmosphere and you can enjoy an excellent cuisine.

The Playa de los Bateles is next to the promenade of Conil and close to the old town. The fine sandy beach is more than 120 meters wide and almost a 1,5 km long. On the boulevard there are some nice bars and restaurants. There are lifeguards during the summer months and several chiringuitos where you can buy a bite or cold drinks.

The northwestern coast of Playa Fuente del Gallo is still largely unspoiled. The area is characterized by high cliffs, pine forests and beautiful vistas. Nestled between the steep cliffs are several small bays (Calas) with beautiful sandy beaches. Cala del Aceite, just before the fishing port of Conil, is the largest and best known and accessible via a staircase. The smaller bays are less easy to reach and sometimes require some climbing.
