Ibiza town, also called Eivissa, is a city on the island of Ibiza, one of the Spanish Balearic Islands. The city has a population of 48,500 inhabitants. The Phoenician settlement of Sa Caleta, which is part of the city, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Ibiza town is the capital of Ibiza and is the largest town of the island. There are many attractions, shopping places, beaches and many places to go. It is known for its nightlife. Two of the most luxurious nightclubs, Pacha and El Divino are located in the city; Space is just south to the airport.

The city is divided into a number of districts including Dalt Vila (the old upper town), La Marina (the port), Sa Penya (the old fishing area) and the new town. In Dalt Vila, the main attractions, include the city walls and gates and the Cathedral. This cathedral, Santa Maria d'Eivissa, dates from the 16th century and is overlooking the old town. The church has Baroque elements. In the sacristy there is a museum with priestly vestments, paintings and church treasures. The tower and the porch of the sacristy are the oldest parts. The city walls were built in the 16th century. They are so well built that they still constitute a fort with a complete original structure. The fortifications were completed with the large main gate, the Portal de ses Taules.

For museum lovers, there are a number of possibilities Museum d'Art Contemporani and Galaria Paco Polenghi. The latter has a collection of paintings, sculptures and jewelry. In the museum of contemporary art in the Portal de ses Taules there are works by contemporary artists from Ibiza. In the Museum Arquelogic is a collection of artifacts from the times of the Carthaginians, Romans and Moors.

Sa Penya is the old fishing district of the city between Dalt Villa and the harbor. This district is the heart of the nightlife and many come there to visit the many cafes, bars and clubs. Carrer de la Verge is known for its many gay clubs and SM bars and the most spectacular street of the city. Besides entertainment options Sa Penya has many shops. On Carrer d'Enmig you will find the hippy market where really everything is for sale.

Adjacent to the harbor lays the district of La Marina. A neighborhood is full of shops, and restaurants and a variety of bars, clubs and pubs. The shops are open until midnight during the summer months and the bars and clubs until the early hours.
