Olot is a town in the Spanish autonomous region of Catalunya. Olot is located in the Park of La Garrotxa with 786 meters high volcano Croscat.

Olot has a rich historical heritage. There are fine examples of modernist architecture. Olot is also known for its artistic movement, the Olot School. Paintings, sculptures and ceramics are presented in the Museu Comarcal de la Garrotxa.

The church of Sant Esteve dates from the 18th century and has a magnificent baroque altar. The church is known for a painting of Christ with the cross painted by El Greco.

The Parc Nou is a botanical garden. Much of the park is a vast oak forest which is very rare in Spain. There is also a source and a variety of more than twenty different trees and many plants. There is also a special section with medicinal plants. In the villa located in the park is an information center and exhibition room about o n the volcanic area in the vicinity.

There is a special route of 57 kilometers, the Ruta del Carrilet. This path was once the old railway line from Olot to Girona. The route goes through valleys and forests and along rivers. In the twelve villages you pass during the trip you can stop for refreshments.

In the Els Tussols recreation area at the river Fluvia you can rent canoes and kayaks for a trip on the river. Other activities include archery, a climbing wall and a zip line.

The Garrotxa is one of the most beautiful volcanic areas of Spain. There are forty craters and some frozen lava streams. There is interesting vegetation with many oak and beech trees. In the park there are 28 hiking trails along the most interesting parts of the park. It is possible the follow longer routes with the help of a folder.
