Torremolinos is a resort on the Costa del Sol in Andalusia, in southern Spain. The town got its name from the Torros (towers) and molinos (mills), because there used to be many windmills in the region. Today there is only one left which serves as a restaurant.

Torremolinos is the largest holiday resort in the Costa del Sol with 9 km of golden beach and plenty of different water sports. There is an attractive promenade with restaurants, bars and shops. The town has a total of more than 200 restaurants, 40 nightclubs and numerous other possibilities to keep you busy during the night.

If you are tired of lazing around on the beach or rolling of your surfboard for the hundredth time, try one of the water parks in the city or enjoy a sailing trip along the coast.

The botanical garden Jardin Botanico Molino de Inca, located outside Torremolinos, is one of the top three palm gardens of Spain. The garden has more than 70 different palm species, but there are also a great number of other plants and trees. The most interesting is a hundred year old araucaria of more than 50 meters high.

Splendid views over the gardens and several aviaries offer the visitor the opportunity to relax and liberate them from the crowded atmosphere of the Costa del Sol.

One of the most important historical buildings of Torremolinos is the Torre de Pimentel, the Watchtower. The tower was built in the 14th century as part of a defense system. The tower is now a tourist attraction. Many climb it to have panoramic views over the coast and the sea.

Crocodile Park Torremolinos gives the visitor the opportunity to see these animals in a natural environment . There are about 300 crocs, a mini zoo, a reptile house and a mini cinema. In the African museum you will find all sorts of information about the crocodile’s life.
