Valldemossa is a place on the island of Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands in Spain. The town has a population of 1,700 inhabitants. The mountain village lies in a valley at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level. The place is internationally known for its stay, in the 19th century, of the composer Chopin and the writer George Sand in the 14th century Carthusian monastery.

Valldemossa is a beautiful place situated 15 km north of Palma de Mallorca. The place is surrounded by the Tramuntana mountains. The place has old streets with interesting historical buildings. The tourist attraction is the already mentioned Cartuja de Valldemossa. The monastery where Chopin and his lover stayed in the winter of 1838-39.

The Tramuntana mountains invite you for to a stroll along its not too difficult paths. You will get fantastic views over the surrounding area and the sea. In these mountains lie some beautiful gardens dating from Moorish times. There is some interesting artwork in the park in Renaissance and Gothic style, such as fountains.

The Palacio del Rei Sanctions is located next to the monastery and is open to visitors. You will get a tour of some beautifully decorated rooms with antiques, paintings and tapestry.
