Valle Gran Rey is a small town on the Spanish island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands region. The town has 5,350 inhabitants.

The coastline and the valley consist of an agricultural terraced area while the mountain range is heavily forested. The main economy is agriculture: banana plantations, palm production and fisheries, and tourism since 1970.

Valle Gran Rey has now become a popular holiday destination. The terraced landscape, the large numbers of palm trees and colorful gardens give the valley a unique look. Thanks to the warm climate there grow many varieties of tropical fruit trees. The valley opens into a delta surrounded by majestic cliffs.

La Playa is the tourist district in the valley and has beautiful black sandy beaches with a promenade which evokes an idyllic atmosphere. On the boardwalk, there are a number of shops and boutiques, restaurants, bars and a disco.

In addition to Valle Gran Rey there is plenty to do for nature lovers in La Gomera. Book a boat trip on the motorboat Tina, which daily courses around the south and west of the island towards Los Organos, a strange looking rock formation, which is visible only from the sea. This way you will probably have an encounter with a dolphin or a whale.

If you really want to delve into the lives of dolphins and whales, then contact the Club de Mar center. This center is engaged in research on underwater life and provides daily cruises from the port Vueltas.

La Gomera is a paradise for nature lovers. The volcanic origin can still be seen in the islandís environment. From the centre of the island, ravines run in all directions to the coast. These canyons are covered with laurisilva, rainforest laurels. The canyons and the plateau with its lush vegetation form the Garajonay National Park, which is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

Over the slopes in the area there are walking routes, which offer plenty of challenges for hikers. The area exudes a mystical atmosphere with the clouds continuously flowing over the tree tops of the hills, and provides stunning views of the islands of Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro.
